“DREAM BIG” continues this week at our 10AM Drive-In Service and other news from New Horizons Christian Church

DREAM BIG – Our fall series continues this Sunday at our “in person” Drive-In Service at 10AM. Last week, Ali asked us to consider these questions: “Who are you?” and “Where are you?” This week’s question will be “What do you want?” This series based upon a book of the same name by Bob Goff is for personal growth as well as congregational health.

If you missed last week’s message, you can catch it on YouTube. This Sunday’s message will be available on YouTube on Sunday night.

YOU ARE INVITED TO JOIN A SMALL ZOOM GROUP THAT WILL BE GOING DEEPER INTO “DREAM BIG” WHICH MEEETS ON WEDNESDAY NIGHTS AT 7PM. CONTACT JIM OR ALI FOR THE ZOOM CODE.

ALSO, JIM AND ALI ARE KEEPING OFFICE HOURS EVERY TUESDAY FROM 10AM – 2PM. STOP BY TO SEE THEM OR TO PRAY IN THE SANCTUARY. IF YOU WANT TO MEET THEM AT ANOTHER TIME, JUST CONTACT THEM TO SET IT UP.

A REMINDER – Starting in October, we will be recording worship on Sunday mornings at 10:45AM so our services will not be available at 9AM on YouTube. They will be online later in the day. October 4 and 18 will be “test runs” for inside worship in the sanctuary while October 11 and 25 will be Drive In Services. All will begin at 10:45AM.

OUR PLAN IS TO RETURN TO THE SANCTUARY FOR WORSHIP ON SUNDAY NOVEMBER 1. Between now and then, we are installing hand sanitizer dispensers, deep cleaning the sanctuary and other spaces we will be using, putting up new signage, removing some of our furniture, and other steps to make it as safe as we possibly can. As we have stated in the past these plans are dependent on a yellow or orange threat level rating for Summit County. New threat levels come out every Thursday.

We thank you for all of the steps you have already taken such as mask wearing, personal distancing, and other actions that you have taken to protect others and yourself.

OTHER REOPENING NEWS – Since the weather is getting colder, our Lord’s Workers and Friendship classes will have the option of meeting indoors or outdoors starting this week. While meeting outside provides the greatest safety because of airflow, if our groups wear masks, practice social distancing, and open windows or doors to allow in outside air it will help greatly.

Our Reopening Team has designated the Fellowship Hall as well as the Gathering Area as suitable locations for small groups to meet. If your small group wishes to begin meeting indoors, please contact Jim. We are trying to proceed slowly and cautiously both to accommodate our groups as well as provide for their safety. Outside groups have not yet been been cleared to return to our building.

FOOD OUTREACH – Beginning next week, we are renewing our partnership with Panera of Hudson and will be offering bread and other baked goods from our food pantry. If Akron Public Schools return to in-person classes, then we hope to offer our weekend backpack program once again.
